Lithic Fragments, 2024
Copper, fire, Hawaiian sea salt, seawater from Kāneʻohe Bay

This early work marks my first attempt at recording the presence and memory of stone. I used copper to wrap volcanic fragments, drawing out their form through fire and oxidation. The rusty patina was created using seawater from Kāneʻohe Bay and traditional Hawaiian sea salt, a process rooted in place and elemental transformation. It was an intuitive experiment—led by observation, material, and the slow imprint of time.
